A church and icon painter, Grigore Popescu creates with means of his own a manner of painting which, although follows the Byzantine tradition, is strongly marked by originality. Sober, precise, picturesque, full of poetry and elegance, his style overcomes the classic formulas, being inscribed in a fascinating pictorial form.
